Coyote Skull by Fenris Lorsrai

Skull and background was done in hot wax. The floating eyeballs are acrylic. The underlying wax made the paint spread really weirdly and partially show through. Original is 4.5X12 on cardboard.

African Wild Dog encaustic by Fenris Lorsrai

Experimental. This is an experimental piece done with, surprise, crayons on cardboard. The initial color was laid down on the board as usual. Then I started heating the cardboard and adding more color on top, using the melting crayon to blend the layers together. More and more layers of color were added to give the image deep, rich colors and texture. Some more layers were done cold then waxed over with hot wax again. Heating was done on a flat top wood stove by the extremely technical method of slapping the board on the stove and holding it there til my hand got hot, then frantically working on the hot board before it cooled back off again.

A rare piece of gift art for Swiftrat for ridding me of the customer from hell. You always wanted a scorpion so big you could feed it treats like it was a dog, right? Maybe it'll even play fetch! Reference for the scorpion came for the "world Encylopedia of Animals" by Elena Marcon & Manuel Mongini. Original is acrylic on vellum finish bristol, original is 7" high by 11 wide. Gift art, not for sale.

Tribal Road by Fenris Lorsrai

Two wolves race through a field of dry summer grass into the waiting cool of a forest. Card art for the Rage CCG, specifically the Territory, Tribal Road. Acrylics on vellum finish bristol. original is 14 by 5 1/2 inches. The edges on the long side were snipped off a bit in the scan. There's another tree on the original that got snipped off in the scan. In my private collection, not for sale.
